Police raided the house in Pitcairn, Glenrothes

Glenrothes Police officers have seized cannabis thought to be worth £42,000 in a raid on a house in Moidart Drive, Pitcairn.

Officers apprehended a 55-year-old man whom subsequently appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court charged with offences connected to the seizure.

The seizure marks the latest in a series of significant drugs hauls within the new town in recent months, as officers continue to target those involved in drug criminality.

In October police seized cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £37,500 from a house in Cadham.

In the same month, £1500 worth of similar plants were seized in a raid on a house in Pitteuchar.

in August, a team of 30 officers launched raids on a number of properties in the Macedonia and Glenwood areas of the town. A number of arrests were made in connection with the supply of class A drugs.

Glenrothes Area Commander Derek McEwan praised the police team involved which was made up of officers from Glenrothes CID, and Community and Community Investigation Unit staff, He added: “This once again shows our commitment to tackling individuals involved in the sale and supply of controlled drugs.

“There is no excuse for it. These drugs were destined for our streets and we are not going to let people make a substantial income from this type of criminality.

“Any member of the public that suspects anyone is involved in the cultivation of cannabis or the sale and supply of controlled drugs should telephone Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800555111.

“They need not supply any statement to the police, or even tell us who they are.

“Just tell us whom is dealing drugs or where the cannabis plantation is and we will do the rest.”
