PROVOST of Fife Councillor Jim Leishman was among those leading the tributes to the Kingdom’s out-going chief constable, Norma Graham.

Ms Graham retired last week from the police force after 30 years’ service.

Councillors at a recent meeting of the full council joined in congratulating Ms Graham on her long and distinguished career and she was presented with an engraved decanter and glasses.

Cllr Leishman said: “Since July 2008 the people of Fife have been very lucky to have had Norma in charge of Fife Constabulary and the Kingdom is a safer place now thanks to her hard work and leadership.

“The drive in local and community policing has put the Fife force at the fore of Scottish policing and made our communities much safer places.

“We are very proud of what our chief constable and all her staff have achieved over the period of her leadership.

“I would like to join with my colleagues in wishing her a long and happy retirement.”

Ms Graham said it had been an “honour and a privilege” to serve the people of Fife and work with partners at Fife Council, NHS, fire, ambulance and many other groups.

“The achievements of the past few years would not have been possible without the hard work and commitment of every police officer and member of staff in the force,” she added.

“I leave knowing that the communities of Fife can depend on their excellent service.”
