Public debate on high school merger

PARENTS, pupils, staff and the general public are being reminded of next week’s twin consultation meetings on the proposal to merge Levenmouth’s two secondary schools into one new building.
People are also invited to make their views known online, but Buckhaven and Kirkland High Schools are hosting discussion evenings on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, where visitors can find out more about the plans.
Bryan Poole, Fife Council’s executive spokesperson for education, children, young people and families, is encouraging as many people as possible to go along.
He said: “We think this is a great opportunity for the children of Levenmouth’s secondary schools and their feeder primaries; both those already at school and those who will be moving to secondary school in the future, but it’s important we hear from as many people as possible what they think of this idea.
“The public information sessions will provide people with the opportunity to hear more information about our proposal and put forward their views.
“We want to hear from the pupils of both secondaries and their feeder primaries, their parents, teachers and other interested parties.
“The consultation that is now under way is the best opportunity to participate. I would encourage everyone to do so. This will help us to ensure we are making the right decision for Levenmouth pupils of today and into the future.”
Buckhaven High’s information session is on Feburary 5, while Kirland’s is on February 6, both betwen 6.30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
