Record numbers visit new Glenrothes leisure centre

One year on since doors opened on Glenrothes’ state-of-the-art leisure centre, local people having been enjoying the facility in record numbers.

Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre welcomed its first customers on July 22, 2013 and in the 12 months since it’s been operational, over 600,000 people have used the wide range of facilities and programmes on offer.

Ed Watson, the Trust’s chief executive, said: “There is no question that Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre is a region-leading facility with outstanding facilities and programmes on offer and we are extremely pleased that so many local people have experienced the centre and choose to use the facilities regularly.

“As our recent performance figures demonstrated for the whole of Fife, The Trust is successfully providing quality, affordable and accessible facilities for all. We welcomed 2,403,648 customers during 2013 to 2014 and increase of 13.66 per cent on the previous year and Michael Woods played a big part in this success. We are confident that the centre will continue to attract impressive numbers through its doors for years to come.”
