Residents of Cupar are set to clean up tomorrow (Saturday) when local players of the People’s Postcode Lottery discover how much of a £2 million prize pot they have each won.

Excitement has been building in the town for almost two weeks after it was announced that players living in KY15 5 were to share the windfall in the charity lottery’s Summer Postcode Millions.

The neighbourhood to scoop the biggest prize will be revealed tomorrow at a private party in the town’s Corn Exchange.

All players living in the KY15 5 postcode sector have been invited and organisers have pledged that the minimum amount won is £500.

Food is to be laid on by local bakery Fisher & Donaldson and former X Factor contestant Danyl Johnson will provide the entertainment.

Among those to offer their congratulations is ‘queen of clean’ Aggie MacKenzie, ambassador for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres.

The charity, which has centres in Dundee and Kirkcaldy, has received more than £2.5 million from the People’s Postcode Lottery.

“I am delighted that players in Cupar have won the £2 million Summer Millions,” said Aggie.

“I am sure it will be a great day for everyone in Cupar and I would like to extend my congratulations to all the players in with a chance of winning.

“There is no doubt that Millions events can change lives for both the winners and the charities that benefit from the players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

“Everyone who plays the People’s Postcode Lottery should be proud of the part they play in ensuring Maggie’s can continue to provide this vital service for anyone affected by cancer.”

Every year, almost 2000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the Fife area and money raised by the players of People’s Postcode Lottery allows Maggie’s to run one of their centres for four years.

In total, more than £19 million has been raised for good causes throughout the UK.

Meanwhile, North East Fife MP Sir Menzies Campbell has also expressed his delight at hearing that the People’s Postcode Lottery win had landed in his constituency.

He said: “Like everyone in Cupar I’m absolutely delighted that local players have won £2 million.”
