Roadworks at Guardbridge expected to cause major delays

Roadworks at Guardbridge are expected to cause delays to traffic on the A91 to St Andrews.

Essential repairs to the busy main road bridge spanning the River Eden at Guardbridge are due to begin this Saturday, August 2, and are expected to cause serious traffic congestion.

Resurfacing work at New Bridge, on the A91 to St Andrews, is expected to continue until Monday, August 18.

In an effort to minimise the disruption, the repairs are being carried out during the school holidays, with work taking place from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week.

During the works, one lane will remain open across the bridge. Three-way temporary traffic signals will be used to control traffic approaching the bridge. Where possible, motorists are being encouraged to find alternative routes. Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to use the old bridge.

Public transport services to and from St Andrews will be disrupted during the works. A separate town bus service will run in St Andrews to maintain town timetables. For more information on the bus services affected, contact Stagecoach on 01334 474238 or visit www.stagecoachbus.com.
