THE first ever Raith Rovers Hall of Fame evening is on the verge of selling out – with only a few re-allocated tickets left up for grabs.

A star-studded line-up of guests and the opportunity to pay tribute to some great Rovers legends, has resulted in a scramble for the few remaining briefs for the fundraising night at the Adam Smith Theatre.

Alistair Cameron, of the organising committee, said: “Last week, we had about 50 tickets left and we’ve sold them all. We’ve managed to re-allocate a further 20 tickets, so these are the only ones we’ve got left, and we’re expecting them to go quickly.

“As a committee, we are honoured so many people have been excited by what we are putting on, and we’re looking forward to what promises to be a memorable evening.”

VIP package

Apart from the few re-allocated tickets, one VIP sponsorship package – which includes lunch for four with former Scotland star Gordon Strachan, a buffet before the show and access to the VIP area – is all that’s still available.

Strachan, author Val McDermid and broadcasting legend Archie MacPherson will take to the stage on Monday, November 12, to talk about Raith Rovers and Scottish football in general.

Former Raith boss Jimmy Nicholl and Celtic and Scotland legend Billy McNeill are also among the guests.

They will all pay tribute to the nine Rovers legends – Jim Baxter, Willie Penman, Willie McNaught, Nicholl and five others chosen by Fife Free Press readers – who will become the first to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Mr Cameron said the support of the sponsors had been crucial in putting together the event.

“Without their support we wouldn’t have been able to bring on board the likes of Gordon Strachan,” he said. “The presence of so many top guests has elevated the show and boosted ticket sales, and that’s thanks to the support of our generous sponsors.”
