Secrecy surrounds planning application
Cllr Ally Hunter
AN application to build a residential care facility in Leven has been deferred under an air of secrecy.
Councillors at Wednesday’s meeting of the Levenmouth area committee were asked to approve the application near to Turpie Road when they met on Wednesday.
However, when an illustrative map was put to them, the councillors said they were un-easy about the proposal’s proximity to a piece of Fife Council owned land near-by – but none of them was prepared to say why.
Council officials said they were unaware of why this may pose a problem as no application for any other work has been submitted or muted.
Chair of the committee Councillor Tom Adams said: “Until somebody comes out and says why we want to keep this then I’m not sure if we should make a decision.”
Cllr Alistair Hunter added that, should the council want to keep hold of the land, then the proposed residential care facility “can’t go ahead as it is.”
