Shock figures in domestic abuse cases
Superintendent Dougie Milton
SHOCKING domestic abuse figures have been released by Fife Constabulary.
During the first week of a police campaign launched this month, 39 domestic abuse cases were reported.
Crimes ranged from threatening phone messages through to harassment and assault – and, out of the 39 cases, 31 people appeared at court from custody.
Five of the accused were women.
Superintendent Dougie Milton, the officer leading the campaign, said: “People often wrongly think domestic abuse is a private matter, but it’s not; it’s simply a criminal offence committed within people’s homes.
“It’s totally unacceptable and I am fully committed to directing resources to deal robustly with these type of incidents. Along with our partners, we can provide help and support to those affected.”
