The two main guests for this year’s Raith Rovers Hall of Fame have been announced.
Sky Sports stars Jeff Stelling and Charlie Nicholas will take to the stage at the sell out event at the Adam Smith Theatre on November 10.
Alistair Cameron from the organising committee said the show’s burgeoning reputation was a factor in capturing such big name guests.
“It was able to happen because we now have a strong relationship with last year’s guest speaker Graeme Souness who recommended the show to them,” he said.
“The capture of Jeff Stelling is a major coup. Everyone that we’ve spoken to such as the staff at the Adam Smith Theatre just can’t believe that we’ve managed to secure such a big name.
“He’s known as the number one presenter in sport and rightly so. He’s just brilliant on Sky Sports’ Super Saturday which is watched by millions.
“I think the banter between him and Bill Leckie is going to be worth the admission price on its own!
“With Jeff being a Hartlepool fan he can empathise with Raith Rovers. We’re not one of the big time sides and he was genuinely delighted to be asked. It will be great to hear his views on a certain match from 20 years ago!”
Former Celtic and Scotland legend Charlie Nicholas will join Jeff, and will doubtless have many stories to share of his time as a top footballer, including winning 20 caps for his country.
Alistair said: “We’re really delighted and grateful that Charlie has agreed to appear. He says he’s really looking forward to it.
“It’s been a really smooth booking, there’s been no problems at all and I was taken aback at how keen both were to appear. I think that goes to show just what a good reputation the show has. People know about it.
“There are no tickets left - we’re jam packed, and we are just ecstatic to get Jeff and Charlie.”
