Following the success of their February production of Guys and Dolls, the members of Cupar Amateur Musical Society (CAMS) are on the hunt for “Farmers, Cowmen and Girls Who Cain’t Say No” for their next show ... Oklahoma!
The ever-popular Rodgers and Hammerstein classic features many well-known songs, including ‘Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’’, ‘The Surrey With The Fringe on Top’, ‘People Will Say We’re In Love’, but it is probably best known for its rousing title song ‘Oklahoma!’.
Set in the 1900s in Oklahoma territory, it tells the story of cowboy Curly who falls for farm girl Laurey. With encouragement from Laurey’s Aunt Eller and scatter-brained friend Ado Annie, their love blossoms, but soon becomes threatened by the intimidating presence of Jud, a sinister farm hand who has lan eye for Laurey himself ...
The show will be performed at the Corn Exchange in Cupar from February 3-7, 2015, with rehearsals being held on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm at the Cupar Old Parish Centre, Short Lane, Cupar, beginning on August 27.
It takes a whole team of people to put on a show, so CAMS would welcome new members, both on and off-stage. If you are interested in performing or helping out behind the scenes, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or pop along to the opening rehearsal.
