A St Andrews fish and chip shop has been shortlisted for a Scottish food award just days after collecting another nomination for a UK-wide award in a separate competition.

Cromars, in Union Street, is now a finalist in the Café/Bistro category of the Food Awards Scotland, with the winner to be announced at a ceremony in Glasgow next month. This follows its shortlisting for the best Independent Fish and Chip Shop of the Year in the National Fish and Chip Awards last week.

Cromars is jointly owned by property entrepreneur William Frame and fish industry veteran Colin Cromar, who is no stranger to picking up awards from his time as a partner in the renowned Anstruther Fish and Chip Shop.

Colin said: “We are a young business and have only been trading for 10 months, so to be shortlisted for two prestigious industry awards in quick succession is a major achievement.”

The winners will be announced on September 8.
