WELL behaved and motivated children have helped win Coaltown of Wemyss Primary School a HMIE report full of praise.

The inspectors hailed the strong ethos of the school and its place in the community as well as the care and commitment shown by staff to the well-being and welfare of the children.

The leadership of the headteacher was also singled out as a strength within the school.

The team highlighted the good progress made by children in English and mathematics and in particular that children used their knowledge in these areas widely across many classroom activities and real-life situations.

The wide range of after school clubs was also commended.

Headteacher Patricia Beveridge said the school was delighted with its latest HMIE report.

“The children, staff and parents are a strong team who work extremely well together to create such a positive ethos,” she said.

“The report confirms that our children are learning and growing in a caring, supportive and nurturing environment which encourages them to be confident, responsible young citizens.

“This is something we work hard to achieve and are very proud of.”

It was highlighted that all staff are very caring and sensitive to children’s needs and give extra support and encouragement when needed.

Executive spokesperson for education, children, young people and families Councillor Bryan Poole added his congratulations.

He said: “There appears to be a positive ‘learning together’ ethos within the school as well as a great deal of pride in the achievements of the children.

“Well done to everyone involved.”
