Lovers of live music will next month be dealt a pair of aces by The King.

Anstruther’s Kenny Anderson – alias King Creosote – will be giving headline performances at two spectacular music festivals, celebrating Scottish culture and identity.

He’ll be topping the bill on the opening night of the Solas Festival at The Bield in Blackruthven, Perthshire, from June 20-22.

A week later, the Mercury Prize-nominated singer-songwriter will be appearing with over 300 artists in an inspirational one-off festival to mark the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn.

Kenny, who has released 40 albums in the last 20 years, is joining some leading names from music, performing arts and literature for the Solas Festival, including Liz Lochhead, Rachel Sermanni, Alasdair Gray, Robin Ince, Josie Long and others.

Bannockburn Live, in Stirling from June 28-29, is a diverse feast of music, culture, ancestry, food, drink and battle performances.

Alongside Kenny, Scottish medieval rockers Saor Patrol are appearing with Scotland’s top Celtic and folk music artists, including Julie Fowlis, Dougie MacLean and Karine Polwart.
