A PUPIL from Methilhill has proven she has the art of putting the message across.

Martha Sherwin (10) won a Christmas card competition run by Fife Fire and Rescue Service and now her winning design (pictured right) is officially wending its way all over the country.

Watch Manager of Community Safety at Methil, Scott Neilson, said: “We decided to run a Christmas card competition and invited the Primary 7s from a few local schools to come up with a Christmas card design for our last ever Fife Fire and Rescue Christmas card with fire safety messages.”

Chief Fire Officer Neil McFarlane presented a gift voucher and the Christmas card to Martha.

Neil said: “I was tasked to pick the design, which was a difficult choice as they were all good colourful designs.

“Martha’s one was picked as it had a lot of messages and I felt it expressed what we wanted to get across.”

The card will be sent all over the country to other fire services as well as being made into an ecard.

In addition, Methilhill Primary School was also given a prize of a camera for taking part in the competition.
