Glenrothes shoppers have been spending their money wisely this Christmas according to some retailers in the Kingdom Centre.
The run-up to the festive period was a busy time at the centre, and queues formed outside some shops on Boxing Day for the sales.
And it would appear the stores with the best deals on offer or the most tempting incentives were the ones that took in most at the tills.
Louise Ritchie, manageress of New Look, said: “Christmas was reasonable but what really worked for us was the one-off events we put on – they really brought our customers in and got them spending.”
Putting up the sale sign before Christmas is what attracted customers to The Works, according to manageress Fiona Maney.
She said: “Our sale started two weeks before Christmas, and that gave us a real boost.
“Just having the sale signs up brought in customers but they didn’t necessarily buy sale stock – they were buying everything.”
Home Bargains in the Kingdom Centre also reported healthy sales in December.
Store manager Lee Kelman said: “The last few days before Christmas were extremely busy, we were packed.”
Robert Winter, manager of the Kingdom Centre, said: “The centre was extremely busy in the week leading up to and immediately after Christmas.
“There were queues of people waiting to get into shops such as New Look and Game on Boxing Day as customers wanted to take advantage of the sale offers.”
