Bosses at Bayne the family bakers have paid tribute to a long-serving local employee, who is feeling the knead to move on.

Human resources manager Alison McNeil has retired after 20 years of dedicated service to the Fife company.

Alison, who lives in Leven, joined the firm in 1994 and has seen it grow from 24 shops and 52 staff into the biggest independent retail bakery business in Scotland.

As well as managing the day-to-day HR and personnel function of the business for the last two decades, Alison has been instrumental in the development of several key milestones for the company, while she was also responsible for its youth training scheme, long service awards, sales conferences and staff satisfaction surveys.

Stanley Bayne, managing director, said: “Alison was born to be an HR manager. She is firm but fair with a great sense of humour.

“Her open-door policy for staff at the bakery has helped us immensely to retain our excellent team.”

Alison said: “I am proud to have played a part in helping the company become what it is today.”

Outside work, her interests include gardening, walking, music and enjoying holidays.
