Pittenweem’s annual celebration of all things artistic makes a return this weekend, as the 2014 Arts Festival gets under way.
From August 2-10, the diary showcases a broad assortment of performances, lectures, displays, exhibitions, children’s attractions, walks, creative workshops, and more.
Over 130 artists are listed on the programme for this year – the Festival has its usual intriguing mixture of well-established invited creators, newcomers and resident artists, who exhibit in homes, studios, galleries and public spaces throughout the village and its environs.
Invited artists this year include Sean Dooley, from Cellardyke, plus Marian Leven, Dugald McInnes and the late Steven Campbell. His widow, Carol, will be in conversation with BBC Radio Scotland’s Edi Stark during the Festival.
Another major highlight is a performance on Sunday in the Church Hall in James Street by King Creosote .
There are talks by such prominent figures as Richard Demarco, and Arncroach artist Hilke MacIntyre, and music from Sangsters and Matthew McAllister.
