War memorial project on track
Cupar War memorial
OTHER local communities, such as Falkland and Springfield, have plans for their war memorials.
Discussions have been held in Springfield concerning a possible refurbishment of the memorial, while talks have taken in place in Falkland about a new memorial.
Many towns and villages are naturally focusing on next year’s centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
The war claimed 16 million lives around the world and had an impact on the lives of everyone.
Communities across the globe will come together to mark, commemorate and remember the lives of those who lived, fought and died in the war.
The Centenary Memorials Restoration Fund is open over the course of the four-year centenary events, from the start of the commemorations in August through to the Armistice Day 2018.
Enquiries should be sent to Historic Scotland Investment Team at Longmore House, Salisbury Place, Edinburgh, EH9 ASH, phone 0131 668 8801.
