We’re back in business
Officers Club, Kirkcaldy
A KIRKCALDY fashion store will re-open tomorrow (Friday) more than a year after it closed, bringing new jobs to the town.
Officers Club closed its doors in March 2011, after the retailer went into administration.
However the company is this week preparing to re-open the male clothing store in the Mercat Shopping Centre.
The move will see an additional 10 retail jobs created.
Steve Cohen, Officers Club CEO, said: “We are really excited to be opening a new store in The Mercat.
“Not only will this provide a number of jobs in the community, we also hope that the store will create a real buzz within the local area.”
Officers Club already has over 60 stores nationwide, offering customers the chance to buy key trends at affordable prices.
Jobs boost
The brand offers a mix of clothes ranging from a core casual collection to key trend-led pieces, perfect for big nights out on the town.
News of the employment boost and addition of another retailer has been welcomed in the town.
Bill Harvey, manager of Kirkcaldy4All, told the Press: “It’s very positive and it’s good it has come back and taken that central spot at the entrance to the Mercat.
“It shows the retailers do recognise it’s tough times, but Kirkcaldy is still vibrant and still a great retail centre that attracts people not only from the town, but from areas around the town.
Confidence
“It’s good the company has shown the confidence to reinvest in Kirkcaldy.”
The Lang Toun store closed its doors when the retailer went into adminstration in 2011.
This was the second time a company trading as Officers Club had experienced such difficulties. The Kirkcaldy branch had been given a reprieve in December 2008 when the then Officers Club went into administration, the town store was one of 118 sold at that time.
