ADDITIONAL funding of £68 million funding from the Scottish Government, to help meet its ambition of delivering world-class digital connectivity by 2020, has been welcomed.

North east Fife Nationalist MSP Roderick Campbell, says the cash will be used to put in place the digital infrastructure required to support improvements in internet speeds, which, in turn, may help to support economic growth.

With £40 million of the new funding being spent by local government, the remaining £28 million will be allocated by central Government.

Mr Campbell said: “I have been part of the campaign to see north east Fife achieve greater broadband speeds.

“I am aware of the slow connectivity speeds many residents suffer from and, while grateful for the additional allocation of monies by the Scottish Government, I will also continue to press BT for when upgrades will be made throughout the constituency.”
