Something really BIG is coming to Kirkcaldy this Easter – and you won’t want to miss it!

Kirkcaldy4All is putting on a family friendly funday which is set to be a real eggstravaganza, but instead of Easter eggs, the event will be centred around dinosaur eggs.

And local residents and shoppers alike are being asked to keep their eyes peeled for appearances by Kirkcaldy’s latest celebrities – Neebs and Soozee the dinos!

The pair have been spotted out and about in the town centre recently, scoping out some of the well-known landmarks for fun activities, and they are looking forward to taking part in some cracking Easter events on Saturday, April 19.

The fun and games is being organised by Dysart-based Jock Ferguson of Herald Events, and will tie in with the Kirkcaldy Galleries’ fossil-themed activities, and events being hosted by the Ecology Centre in Kinghorn, which have featured fossil hunting on local beaches.

Children - and adults - can take part in a variety of art activities and have their faces painted as dinosaurs in the Mercat Shopping Centre, while on the High Street there will be a host of activities including fossil fun with a team of experts from the ecology centre who will reveal the many wonders of Fife’s ancient coastline.

Youngsters can take part in a fossil dig with Professor Yuri Poork of the Universitdad of Covonia; a Dino easter egg hunt along the length of the High Street with Professor McGilkicuddy and Doctor Donaldson of the Kirkcaldy4all Institute of Dinosaurology.

The visual art theme is already underway and local schools have been asked to submit children’s drawings of their favourite dinosaur at a famous Scottish location of their choosing.

The results will be shown on the day in Kirkcaldy’s most prestigious art gallery, the Galeria Los Dinos Giganticos, with the opening hosted by the socialite Coco Langtoun of Monaco.

And, as with previous Kirkcaldy4All events, all of it is free!

Jock, said: “I only have to walk a couple of hundred yards from home to find the most wonderful fossils and nearly everybody likes dinosaurs. So it’s Easter – dinosaurs? Why not?”

Bill Harvey, manager of Kirkcaldy4All, said: “This event will take place at the same time as the Links Market and will focus attention on the town centre in a family-friendly activity day.

“Kirkcaldy Galleries and the Ecology Centre are doing a lot on fossils at the moment, and that’s why we decided to go with the theme.

“We hope families will come along on the day and have some fun.”
