Wind farm appeal launched

WEST Coast Energy has launched an appeal to the Scottish Government to determine its seven-turbine, 17.5MW wind farm application on the southern side of Clatto Hill in Devon Wood.

The appeal will now be decided by Reporters in the Scottish Government’s directorate for planning and environmental appeals, who are appointed by Scottish Government ministers to make decisions on their behalf.

The original planning application was made to Fife Council in June 2010 and was rejected by its strategic planning committee in March 2012.

Steve Salt, planning and development director at West Coast Energy, said: “We understand both the pressure planners are under and the range of public and political attitudes towards wind energy in Fife, however West Coast Energy remains committed to investing in the Fife economy and will work constructively with Fife Council if the appeal is successful.”
