A BEAUTY queen teen from Windygates is to represent the Kingdom at a glittering national pageant later this month.

Melissa Douglas saw off competition from hundreds of girls from around the Kingdom recently to be named Miss Teen Fife, an honour which now sees her entered into the Miss Great Britain contest.

The 14-year-old will join around 60 teenage girls to compete for the national crown at The Globe Theatre at Blackpool Pleasure Beach on Sunday, September 30.

The winner of Miss Teen Great Britain will receive a prize package including £1000, £500 to spend at The Dress Studio, a modelling portfolio with FAB Photoshoots, make-up from Beauty UK, products from I Love…Cosmetics, a two- night break at a Puma Hotel, shoes and bags.

Holly Ikin, the organiser of Miss Teen Great Britain said of the local competitor: “Melissa has done fantastically to make it to the grand final of the competition. We were overwhelmed by the high standard of applicants for 2012.

“She has a great, natural look and we are excited to have her in the competition.”

Miss Teen Great Britain is quite different to the stereotypical beauty contests.

Organisers say the aim of the competition is to celebrate teenagers, their ambitions and their achievements.

Half of the judging points are based on an interview with the judges.

Melissa will also be raising money for the event’s nominated charity, the Claire House Children’s Hospice, through various fund-raising events.
