Woman ‘critical’ after serious A92 accident

A FIFE woman remains in a critical condition following a head on car smash on the A92 near Freuchie yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

The 30-year-old was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy and later transferred to the Western General in Edinburgh where her condition is still described as critical.

A 36-year-old man who was in the car with her was taken, and who is also believed to be from Fife, was taken to Ninewells hospital in Dundee where his condition is serious.

The 49-year-old female driver of the other car, also from Fife, was also taken to Ninewells after suffering serious injuries.

The accident happened at around 9.15am and involved a blue Mazda and a blue Toyota Yaris.

The road between Freuchie and Ladybank remained closed until 4pm to allow Fife Police to investigate the incident.

Chief Inspector Adrian Annandale, head of road policing, said: “We are still investigating the cause of this crash and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the collision, or the immediate aftermath, or anyone who was in this area about 9.15am on Wednesday, and may have seen either vehicle, to contact the police on 0845 600 5702.”
