The appeal over the new Madras College in St Andrews will not be heard until January.

The St Andrews Environmental Protection Association (STEPAL), formed by former teachers at the school have appealed against the courts’ decision to dismiss their petition questioning the legality of the decision to grant permission for the school,

A procedural hearing today has now set out a date for the hearing of the appeal to take place on January 12 and 13, 2016, Fife Council has announced.

The council’s Robin Presswood explained: “Following a procedural hearing in Edinburgh today, a date for the hearing of the appeal has now been set for 12th and 13th January 2016. Today’s proceedings were to make sure that all procedural aspects had been complied with and that both parties were ready to proceed to a hearing. No decision was taken today on the merits or otherwise of the appeal.”

Earlier this month Fife Council confirmed its commitment to the new school at Pipeland and gave assurances that work would start as soon as possible after legal arguments are settled.
