Making a Difference - Evergreen Plant Nursery

The Scottish Association for Mental Health’s Evergreen plant nursery in Kirkcaldy has been helping people in the local community with mental health issues for around 14 years.

Clients are given the opportunity to build up their skills and self confidence at their own pace through a variety of horticultural projects – growing plants, fruit and vegetables and cultivating land has proved to have huge therapeutic benefits.

Evergreen is also involved in Fife Council’s EATS project where public areas are planted out with edible flowers and veg, and people are encouraged to use the produce when it has grown.

As part of the Local Newspaper Week ‘Making a Difference’ campaign, we took a look at some of the work the nursery, which is based in the town’s Barnet Crescent, does on a daily basis.
