A Kirkcaldy man is to stand trial after pleading not guilty to three charges of bigamy at the town’s Sheriff Court this week.
Alexander Paton (68), of Ramsay Road, pled not guilty to the charges of bigamously marrying three women while already married.
Mr Paton was not present when his solicitor entered the not guilty pleas on his behalf before Sheriff Grant McCulloch at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
The charges allege that in October 2006, at the Registrar’s Office, Albany Gate, Glenrothes, while he was the lawful husband of Dorothy Campbell, he bigamously married Perla Pilapil Montilla; in June 2007 he bigamously married Ludit Gherghiteanu; and in July 2012, at a church in Greenock, he bigamously married Margaret Nicol.
A trial date has been set for December 12 this year.
