Mark Nelson: Older Than Jesus
Gilded Balloon (Venue 44)
Mark Nelson already got one honour in the bag - one of his jokes was listed in the Daily Telegraph’s ‘best jokes of the 2015 Fringe’ round-up.
Not sure if he gets a trophy, a certificate or a subscription to the paper, but I suspect the Torygraph link will give him scope for some gags too.
His 2015 Fringe show is based around him now being older than Jesus, and looking back and comparing achievements.
His explanation of the life of Jesus using a kids poster is a hoot, but there’s much, much more in this set than the title’s subject.
It’s sharp and packed with great gags and stories, covering everything from the Commonwealth Games legacy and the referendum to parenthood and unconditional love, and why he hates young folk.
He hit the spot with all his topics, and the end result is a fantastic hour of stand-up comedy.
