The mum of a Fife teenager who died in a crash in the west of Scotland on Tuesday has paid tribute to her.

The 18-year-old, from Cowdenbeath, was driving a Peugeot car when it left the road and entered the River Avich at Druimdarroch.

Four female passengers aged 17, 18, 18, and 19 managed to escape from the car with no serious injuries.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Amy’s mum Angela said: “My gorgeous girl Amy wasn’t just the perfect daughter, she was my best friend, my soulmate and my rock and she made me so proud.

“One day I will make her as proud of me as I was of her.

“I am absolutely heartbroken and it’s hard to find the words at this distressing time to express just how much I will miss her.

“Rest in peace Toots.”
