Musical Kirkcaldy pupils help light up supermarket

Pupils from Kirkcaldy schools helped launch Asda’s Christmas lights switch on in the store’s foyer.

A choir from St Maries primary and Kirkcaldy High School’s orchestra performed carols and hymns as the lights were officially switched on by David Torrance MSP.

“Today has been an excellent event,” he said. “Asda’s Community Life team have pulled everybody together. St Marie’s school choir were fantastic and Kirkcaldy High School are here too which is really good.

“You can see with the number of people here who are standing watching how much interest there is in a community event such as this and the money raised all goes to a good cause, Cash For Kids, which will help them over Christmas.”

The Kirkcaldy MSP joined the St Marie’s choir but was hampered for the second year in a row.

“I need to remember to bring my glasses - I forgot them last year too!” he said.

“At least my singing has improved - last year one of the St Marie’s pupils told me I was terrible!”
