A Fife man has been recognised for his dedication and hard work as a volunteer after receiving a national award.
Jim Henderson (68) has only been working with the Glenrothes-based Addaction service for a year and half, but in December it was revealed he had not only been awarded the top honour in his region, but had been recognised as the Addaction Volunteer of the Year for the whole of the UK.
“I was completely overwhelmed when they told me about the first award,” said Jim. “So when they told me about the second one I was a bit on edge, and about crying actually!”
And for Jim - a former colour mixer - the trip to London was made even more special as he was able to fulfil a lifelong dream - getting his picture taken, in a kilt, outside of Buckingham Palace.
Jim, who lives with his wife Joan in Methil, has been volunteering for many years.
