Tricia Marwick MSP for Mid Fife and Glenrothes has welcomed the decision by Fife Council to conditionally approve plans for a new Auchmuty High School in Glenrothes.
Members of the Glenrothes Area Committee gave the green light to plans for the new school, which will be built in partnership between the Scottish Futures Trust and Fife Council.
The new contemporary designed school building will be constructed on the existing playing fields at Auchmuty. The new school will also include a floodlight all weather pitch, tennis courts and kickabout area.
Mrs Marwick said: “I am delighted that Fife Council has approved plans for a new Auchmuty High School and this is a momentous day for Glenrothes.
“The new Auchmuty High School will be a huge boost for the whole of our town. It is great news for the pupils and teachers and at last we will get a school fit for the 21st century.
“As the constituency MSP for Glenrothes, I have worked very hard to make the case for a new Auchmuty High School and I am pleased this project has now been given the formal go ahead. I look forward to construction beginning on the new school as soon as possible.”
