Work will get under way next year on a new road layout in South Road, Cupar, making it easier to access the new Aldi store, which is currently being built.
Drivers travelling into Cupar from South Road will be able to use a new, dedicated centre lane - located between Ceres Road and St Michaels Drive junctions - for turning into the supermarket.
South Road householders have been notified of the road changes, which will be carried out by contractors employed by Aldi.
When the store applied for planning permission - granted earlier this year - Fife Council transportation officials objected to the road changes.
The council will now promote an order for a single yellow line waiting restriction in part of South Road to accommodate the layout.
Residents in the area are being offered alternative parking at specially designated spaces at the new store, which will cover 1600 square metres.
A spokesman for Aldi said on Tuesday that work was progressing well at the site and was still on target for an opening next summer.
