THE village of Newton of Falkland is set to be transformed over the next few months, thanks to three separate projects scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

A 20mph zone is to be introduced for the whole village, the speed limit on the B936 between Freuchie and Falkland is being reduced from 60mph to 40mph, and the main street will be resurfaced.

BOOST

Welcoming the news, Howe of Fife and Tay Coast councillor, Donald Lothian, said: “These three roads related matters are essentially unconnected, but as they are all being done over a few months the outcome will be a huge boost to the local residents.

“The community has long called for a 20mph zone, while I did everything I could to secure the 40mph speed limits and Fife Council is responding quickly to the deterioration of the main road, primarily following the last two winters.”
