PROCEEDS from the sale of a Jack Vettriano painting have helped the STV Appeal 2012 reach an amazing £2 million milestone.
‘Night-Time Rituals II’, by the Levenmouth artist, was auctioned at the Great Scot Awards in London and bought for £35,000 by Sir Tom Hunter, trustee of the STV Appeal, which raises money for children and young people affected by poverty in Scotland.
In 2011-12, the Scottish Government committed to match fund up to £1 million of the total amount raised.
Jack Vettriano said he was shocked to hear the statistic that 220,000 children in Scotland were living in poverty and was pleased to contribute to the appeal by donating the painting.
“Night-Time Rituals explores a theme to which I like to return from time to time – it’s about creating an atmosphere of anticipation and indulging in those rare moments where all your senses collide,” he added.
