A Leven woman is celebrating her fiftieth year with a local solicitors after joining the company in 1964!
Elizabeth Wood (72) joined FT & DC Wallace Solicitors on March 18, 1964 and is still working full time as the personal secretary to Fiona Brown who looks after the Executry Department.
When she started working with the company, which has been based at Forth Street, Leven since 1903, she worked with Douglas Wallace as his personal secretary and when he retired, she became the personal secretary of his son, Michael, who has also now retired. But amazingly, Elizabeth remains.
David Ritchie, partner, said: “This is a good time to acknowledge Elizabeth’s 50 years of loyalty and hard work to the firm. Very few employers can say that they have had such loyalty and dedication from one member of staff.”
A Leven resident for a number of years, Elizabeth married George the same year she joined the company, but sadly he passed away in 2005. They have one son Mark, who now lives in London with his wife, and Elizabeth visits them both often.
Outwith work, she enjoys socialising with her extended family and friends and is a keen member of Leven Baptist Church. She also attends a Ladies Group once per week in Buckhaven, which she is treasurer of.
