Communities in east Fife are being given the opportunity to learn about construction plans for the new offshore prototype wind turbine which is being erected at Methil’s Energy Park, at a special information evening next week.

The event will take place at the Fife Renewables Innovation Centre at Methil Docks on Thursday, August 1 between 4.00 - 8.00p.m.

Residents and businesses can call in at any time and speak to representatives from GRAHAM Construction, which has been appointed to construct the 7MW turbine, as well as Samsung Heavy Industries, Fife Council and Scottish Enterprise who will all be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

Work on the main turbine started onshore in January this year and piling works have just commenced.

Councillor Lesley Laird, executive member for business, enterprise, economy and planning said this was an exciting phase for the energy park. She added: “I would encourage local people to come along to the open evening as it offers an excellent opportunity to find out about the project up close and how it will progress over the next few months.”

A dedicated hotline has also been set up for any residents who are affected by any elements of the construction project. The hotline number is 0800 121 4457.

Residents can also visit the project website which will feature up-to-date news and information on construction progress. Go to www.graham.co.uk/samsung.
