Alan now broadcasts on radio station North Norfolk Digital, due to be taken over and re-named Shape. Alan manages to keep his job by ousting fellow DJ Pat Farrell, but during the re-branding party Pat produces a shotgun, takes hostages, and will only speak to the police via Partridge, unaware that it was he who had him fired.
Undoubtedly the funniest film of the year, Steve Coogan plays Partridge brilliantly and for all that the plot centres around the siege, it’s the bits where Partridge is his buffoonish self, a “conversation with the proud father of Norfolk’s most sun-tanned child” for example, that work best.
And you won’t ever listen to Roachford’s ‘Cuddly Toy’ in the same way again.
