I know there has been a lot of criticism of this sequel to “The Da Vinci Code” but I have to say I enjoyed it. Not only did I like the storyline, with its many twists and turns, but I enjoyed the fact it is set in one of my favourite cities, Rome. Tom Hanks reprises his role as Professor Robert Langdon who is summoned to Italy’s capital as a matter of urgency. His knowledge of religious symbolism is needed to track down a group of fanatics, calling themselves the Illuminati, who have kidnapped four cardinals with the intention of executing each one. Ewan McGregor is also excellent in his role as a young protégé of the late Pope. The film takes you on a whirwind trip through Vatican City and underground catacombs as Hanks follows the clues across the city in the hope of reaching each cardinal before he meets a gruesome death.
I thought “Angels and Demons” was a fantastic roller-coaster ride and I don’t think you need to have read the book first to enjoy this movie. I would definitely recommend.
