For page-turning, plot-twisting, clever and thought-provoking thrillers, there is no-one better than Harlan Coben and this is a fine example of his gripping style.
While the stories are interesting and beautifully constructed, Coben’s great skill is the creation of well drawn-out characters - even the good guys have flaws and secrets, these are people who you believe could live down the street from you.
‘Caught’ starts with a 17-year-old good girl going missing, while TV reporter Wendy Tynes catches a man (Dan) on camera she claims is a paedophile - are the two linked?
But as new evidence emerges, Wendy begins to doubt her first instincts and finds herself involved in Dan’s murder.
As things get more complicated, she uncovers a possible plot to ruin his former college roommates, all the while trying to win back her job and look after her teenage son.
With a breakneck pace and twists and turns aplenty, this is an intelligent thriller that demands your full attention.
