John Murray on the return of Dave ‘Eurythmics’ Stewart

With a pedigree like Dave Stewart a new release is always worth investigating. Mostly known for his work with Annie Lennox he still favours collaborations opening his album with Marina McBride on Every Single Night a true country rocker with shades of Madonna’s Holiday underneath. Lucky Numbers (Kobalt), is an eclectic mix of some fine originals with authentic Southern musicians that includes Karen Elson guest on the ballad Nashville Snow and a sing along ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends’ with a huge chorus presumably staged to join in with feeling.

Well done Tammy Miller after a successful record launch at a Kirkcaldy hotel. Still only 16 yet very comfortable playing live solo shows she writes her own material and is now set for the next step up.

Her EP’ Let It Go’ has a title track she wrote a couple of years ago and already it has found its way on radio playlists all over Scotland and the north of England. Tammy has been touring the radio world too over the school holidays and was heard visiting several in a single day where she wasn’t fazed with the hectic schedule which included performances too in the studios.

Her melancholy vocals can be heard on all three of this initial release. Another young lady aged 16; Caleidra was in this week on a similar radio tour.

‘Another Day’ is the title track of her own EP produced by John McLaughlin with his previous credits including Westlife, Busted and Take That, Five and Blue for starters. His approach is to include a full beat band this time giving an overall Taylor Swift sound and this has attracted some national press, some teen magazines.
