Sports award: SO the nominees for this year’s Sports Personality of the Year award have been revealed, and, unsurprisingly it is full of members from the Team GB squad. Out of the 12 names, there’s just Rory McIlroy who didn’t appear at the London Games.

Each of the contenders is deserving of recognition having achieved what they have this year, but one thing’s for sure, it’s a tough one to call who should win.

There are some who, I think, should be among the front runners for the title. Bradley Wiggins is a strong contender after he became the first ever British winner of the Tour De France and then went on to win gold at the Olympics. He’s definitely at the top of his sport.

Then there’s Sir Chris Hoy - one of Britain’s most successful Olympians ever having gained a sixth gold medal. Some may argue he’s already won, so give others a chance, but I disagree. Thankfully it’s not just up to me to decide, it’s one for the public vote so everyone can have their say.

Shopping spree: SUNDAY was a day of braving the shops for me as I tried to complete my Christmas shopping. I failed.

Some items were bought and I returned home weary and with a lighter purse, but there’s still more gifts to be found.

Each year I think to myself I’ll be organised and plan ahead, perhaps even buy everything online to save having to go through the hustle and bustle of the shopping crowds, however I’ve not yet stuck to this idea.

If past years are anything to go by, I may still be needing the odd thing on Christmas Eve - and that’s definitely not a time I want to be hitting the shops.

Festive feeling: I KNOW it’s only the end of November, but I have to admit that the festive feeling is starting to bite me. A few days spent in Aviemore at the end of last week kind of sealed the deal. The mountain tops were covered in a sprinkling of snow, the sky was bright blue and the temperature had plummeted, but it was the perfect scene of a beautiful winter’s day.

Match that picture with the twinkling Christmas lights that are glowing at night now and it’s definitely starting to look a lot like Christmas.

However, I am struggling to work out where the last 12 months have gone though. It never went by so quick when I was younger.
