Have your say

Impressive performance: I HAVE to say I was thoroughly impressed with the performance of Jessica Ennis, who won gold in the heptathlon event at the London Olympics 2012.

She is the perfect example of an athlete overcoming an injury to continue striving to be the best in their sport.

Jessica suffered a stress fracture to her right ankle which forced her to pull out of the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

Following her injury, she began an intense rehabilitation programme.

Jessica also had to switch from her right to her left foot for take-off in long jump.

I admire this as having a setback like that can make you give up altogether.

But she has come back stronger so for that reason I think her gold medal is well deserved.

I think fears the London Olympics would prove to be a damp squib have been unfounded with people who don’t normally have an interest, tuning in to watch all the different sports.

Summer time: AT long last the sun has finally come out!

This summer has been so miserable I really had my doubts we would get any nice weather at all.

But last week was glorious and it was nice to be able to walk to work without taking my umberella! The question remains though - how long will it last?

Line up: WHAT could be worse than having Paul McCartney performing at the opening ceremony of the Olympics? - having the Spice Girls sing at the closing ceremony!

Why were they even on the bill? They haven’t been in the charts for years and they can’t hold a tune!

Surely there must be better performers out there. Oh wait there are - George Michael and Brian May ...

Gym time: I HAVE been enjoying getting back to the gym over the last week and even tried some new classes. The new CXWORX class is tough but it gets results.

It mainly involves toning, working with tubes and weights and I tell you my abs haven’t been this sore in ages! I have also tried the new step class which is fab.

I used to do step years ago and while I was a bit rusty to start with, my legs soon got into the swing of it again!

This week ... enjoyed a family meal, night out with friends and planned a trip away
