Dragon’s Den – Well done to the S2 pupils who recently took part in a Dragon’s Den course as part of their ACE afternoon. These brave pupils faced three local business ‘Dragons’ and presented their new ideas with confidence. A big thank you also to our ‘Dragons’ – Scott Dryburgh (Dryburgh Associates), Allan Duthie (Electronics168) and Evelyn Rafferty (Raytheon).

Extra-curricular activities – What’s in it for you? Friendship, creativity, safety, fun, enjoyment, hobby, self-confidence, teamwork, respect, stress relief, real world skills, future careers, interview and CV ideas and so much more! Everyone from S1-S6 is encouraged to take part and join in a club or activity in school. Come along and try something new, develop skills, make new friends and have fun! Whether you are interested in sports or dance, music, social events or some special interest activities, from Brainbusters to Young Enterprise, there is something for everyone at Buckhaven High School.

Grease is the word – The drama department is taking 70 third and fourth year pupils to see ‘Grease’, the musical, in the Alhambra Theatre, Dunfermline, on Tuesday, September 18. On their return to school, the pupils will write an evaluation essay about the show.

UCAS afternoon – Yesterday (Tuesday), all S6 pupils wanting to apply to university were due to receive a talk from representatives of the University of St Andrews. Pupils expected to hear advice about how to apply to university and how to go about the process of applying themselves.

Diageo work placement – Daniel Christie in S6 successfully completed an application, assessment and interview process to be chosen as the only pupil from Buckhaven High School to attend a week work placement at Diageo in Leven. He faced stiff competition from other Buckhaven High pupils. The placement was also attended by pupils from Kirkland.

Battlefield trip 2013 – Unfortunately, the Battlefield trip to France and Belgium in June 2013 has had to be cancelled because of lack of numbers. Mrs McLeod hopes to be able to organise another trip at a later date.

Football – Result from Thursday, September 6: Queen Anne 2, S4 Buckhaven 4 (K. O’Donnell 2, R. Patterson 2).
