A film about a zombie apocalypse starring Brad Pitt? That’s bound to be worth a watch you would think, and happily that turns out to be the case. With due deference to the script writers who slaved away over this one, it’s one of those films where the actual story doesn’t really matter. There’s no need for a well structured narrative arc or character development; we want zombies and explosions thank you very much, the more the better, and this film delivers in spades. The plot, for what it’s worth, sees UN blokey Brad criss-crossing the globe trying to discover what’s causing a quickly spreading pandemic - those exposed turn into flesh-devouring zombies after just 12 seconds. Cue many action-packed, intense scenes of mass panic and terror as huge swathes of the public are left to fend for themselves. And explosions. It’s an enjoyable and at times thrilling blockbuster movie and as an added bonus, it’s good fun trying to spot the scenes which were filmed in Glasgow.
