A GLENROTHES pet supplies shop has closed.

Acorn’s North Street branch is one of 16 in Scotland and four in Fife which were shut with immediate effect after the company went into administration for the second time in two years.

A “sustained period of poor trading” and supermarket competition has been blamed for the decision by the Rosyth-based firm, which hopes to save its store in the town, another in Cowdenbeath and four more, as well as 41 jobs.

But 122 full and part-time posts will go from the family-run company, on top of 11 stores and 73 jobs which went during the 2009 administration.
