St Andrews councillor Brian Thomson has welcomed news that two St Andrews roads are to be re-surfaced this summer.
The condition of road surfaces in Bogward Road and Canongate has exercised local residents for some time, and Cllr Thomson has campaigned for them to be repaired.
He said: “I’m delighted that the entire length of Bogward Road, and part of Canongate – from John Knox Road to Learmonth Place junctions – are to be resurfaced, having highlighted the deteriorating condition of both roads, and pushed for the resurfacing works to be carried out for a considerable period of time.”
He explained the work should be carried out over the summer, and should done “fairly quickly” as only the top surface of the roads has failed.
Cllr Thomson was also celebrating plans to upgrade the junction of Hepburn Gardens and Buchanan Gardens in St Andrews, after he raised concerns about safety at the junction.
Now give way markings are to be upgraded to include standard junction give way markings, along with standard give way signs later this year.
He said: “I have previously raised safety concerns regarding this junction with officers, and I raised it again after a constituent contacted me recently regarding concerns that some drivers are not giving way.
“The roundabout give way markings on the eastbound approach from Hepburn Gardens, and eastbound approach from Buchanan Gardens, are to be upgraded to include standard junction give way markings, along with standard give way signs.
“This will hopefully help to reinforce the information given to drivers to give way.”
