After entry was forced to the shop a quantity of cigarettes were stolen from inside.

Local officers have been conducting various lines of inquiry and have established that three men, who left the area in a dark blue Saab estate car, were responsible.

Anyone with information that can help identify these individuals is asked to come forward.

Sergeant Pat Turner from St Andrews Police Station said: “The suspects attempted to hide their identities with items of clothing obscuring their faces while they were within the shop.

“However, we know that one was wearing a light-coloured North Face hooded top whilst a second had on a distinctive black jacket with a white stripe down the full length of the arm.

“We believe the car they used to make off from the area was a dark-coloured Saab estate motor car and was either a 93 or 95 model. We are actively looking to trace this vehicle and its occupants.

“Anyone who can assist us with our ongoing investigation should contact police immediately.”
