Police in Levenmouth have issued a warning to local bicycle owners after a spate of thefts in the area.
Officers say over the summer period there has been an increase in thefts of bicycles, which can often be attributed to the increased use of bikes thanks to the recent good weather.
Police say a large proportion of the thefts in Levenmouth occurred because the bikes were insecure, making it easy for opportunistic theives to steal them.
Community safety officer for Levenmouth, PC Kevin Taylor, had some advice for bike owners who may be worried about the thefts.
He said: “In each case, a padlock could have prevented the theft.
“A padlock needn’t be expensive and only takes a moment to secure.”
If anyone needs any further advice on how to keep their bike secure, contact police on 101.
